May 2013 Blog Chain: Wrong Place, Right Time

Tweet of the Day: Why Your Novel May Not Be Historical Fiction After All

——–

You knew this was coming, so brace yourself for another Blog Chain brought to you by the folks of Absolute Write Forums:

Starting Date: Friday May 3, 2013
Open to all forum members, even after it starts!

This month’s prompt:
Dialogue Only

Make a post that is only back-and-forth dialogue, with no description or tags. As always, it may be fiction or nonfiction, prose or poetry, or any other form you care to use. If you want an additional prompt for your dialogue, you can use “Wrong Place, Right Time,” but this is strictly optional.

Instructions:
Simply post your blog’s URL in this thread to join. Each post should be less than 1000 words if possible. Read and comment on other participants’ posts if you possibly can–they’ll be doing the same for you!

“This will not work William.”

“But it will, dear Patrick. Tomorrow night I will stare at the lifeless eyes of the Shannon’s and smile. I can only imagine how their bodies will slide from our blades to the floor. How they will twitch their last in a pool of the own blood. How their hearts will beat for one last time.”

“We will be recognized William! Surely someone will know and alert them.”

“Us, a pair of poor country squires? Oh Patrick, we have been away for too long, brother. Time makes people forget. Forget alliances and bonds of friendship, oaths and promises. No, we will go into the castle, our castle, our land whom the Shannons took from us when they betrayed father and when the time is right….”

“We could go to the King. He would surely set this right.”

“Would he? Where was he when we were forced to flee in the middle of the night? Where was his Highness when we battled in foreign lands to survive? No, the King cares not for our troubles. Besides, to press our case at Court will mean to have the Shannons send their hounds after us. We would be undone within a fortnight. The plan will work Patrick. We know the castle like no one else. Every passage, every door, every nook and cranny. We walk through the main gate and slip through the back.”

“And then what?”

“We wait and see, Patrick, we wait and see….”
