Frank gripped the steering wheel, “Are you sure it’s her?”
“Yeah, I’m sure,” said Al through clenched teeth. The tip of Al’s cigar flared. “That’s her all right and she is a Red as her dress.”
Frank adjusted his wire frames, “If that’s the case then maybe we should call in the Feds.”
“I ain’t going to have Hoover’s Girly Men interfere with my case. This is our turf and she is our collar,” spat Al.
“And is that Murphy sitting with her?”
Al squinted, “Yeah, that looks like Murphy.” He pulled out a snub nosed .38 revolver from his shoulder holster, checked the cylinder and put it back, “I always knew that Murphy was soft when it came to dames. If he gets in our way, well I got six answers for him. He payed the check. Get ready to follow them.”
“Okay Al.”

Ooh, a stakeout. It seems there are a lot of people after the lady in Red.
She certainly catches the eye!
Did Al spit inside of the car?
Good work!
Not the most hygienic of people, that Albert.
“She is as Red as her dress.” Love that line. Great job with the tough guy dialogue.
Heehee. Very Dick Tracy!:-)
@ Diane
Just seemed obvious, so I went with it.
@Colby
Thank you!

The lady in red ALWAYS sticks out! :p
Murphy, great gumshoe name! Murph. It’s funny how you haven’t described Frank and Al and yet I have a very vivid picture of a hulking, overweight Al and a rail thin, bookish Frank.
Again, some great dialogue!
I imagined Al to be short and pudgy, with a huge chip on his shoulder and a bigger Napoleonic complex. But you Frank is as meek and bookish as you think.
I can just see them sitting there watching her, especially Al with the tip of his cigar.
I see lung cancer in his future.
Love your Gangster Dialog!
Felt like an old movie.
Thank you!
Now that was a fun read! I’m rooting for the lady in red to getaway.
Everybody is rooting for her. And she doesn’t even speak! Weird ain’t it.

Classic noir. Love it.
Perfectly gangster, from the snub .38 to the banter. Even though this isn’t a continuation of the earlier entries, it seems that the red still stands for communism!
Thank you @Cath and @alexp01
